Running into injury time: distance running and temporality

Article Abstract:

The new perspectives on the subjective experience of sporting injury are contributed and some of the temporal dimensions of sporting 'injury time' and subsequent rehabilitation are analyzed. It is suggested that there is a need for sports physiotherapists and other health-care practitioners to take into account the subjective temporal dimension of injury and rehabilitative processes.

Article Abstract:

The ways in which representations of celebrity status and individual identity reflect wider changes in society are discussed. The popular cultural image of soccer star, David Beckham as a leading member of the newly moneyed soccerati and the multi-faceted masculinity, which his existence personifies are explained.

The article examines metrosexual image of Welsh rugby player Gavin Henson created by media and his celebrityhood which challenges the basic rugby culture. It examines concept of metrosexuality in context of sportsmen and tries to understand the significance of the term.
