Teenagers who are depressed are more likely to begin smoking than teenagers who are not depressed. Parents of teenagers who begin to smoke are advised to express their concern for their child's health and happiness rather than punishing the teen or banning smoking.

A piercing look: parents' guide to ear, nose and other rings

Article Abstract:

Blood-borne infections such as Hepatitis B and HIV can be passed from one teenager to another as they exchange piercing instruments. Advice is provided to help parents reduce the likelihood of their child contracting such a disease as a result of body piercing.
