Strangers in a wounded land: quail hunting on a reservation held great promises - mostly fulfilled - and near overwhelming nostalgia

Article Abstract:

The environmental devastation a hunter sees on first trip to the San Carlos Apache Reservation, NM, causes him to pause. The hunter hoped to hunt quail, which were prevalent in the 1800s, but found the bird's population to be less than optimum for hunting because of the environment.

Posewitz's law: hunting doesn't depend on owning an estate - being an American is enough

Article Abstract:

Posewitz believes that people do not have to be wealthy to be hunters. He is trying to pass a law for fish and game agencies that will protect wildlife. The law also is designed to prevent the privatization of hunting areas .

Sweetz's off-season: a hunting dog's downtime is for reflection and recuperation - and if there's a goofy young pup around, it's even more fun

A hunter describes the enthusiasm that his golden labrador named Sweetz has for hunting. The dog likes to spend the off-season sleeping, taking long walks and watching the antics of a friend's puppy.
