Strength indices of the proximal femur and shaft in prepubertal female gymnasts

Article Abstract:

Results reveal that female gymnasts with similar body size exhibit significantly higher bone mineral content, bone cross-sectional area, and section modulus at the narrow neck of the proximal femur and the shaft regions. The bone cross-sectional area and section modulus represent axial strength and bending strength, respectively.
