The effect of rest intervals on knee-extension torque production with neuromuscular electrical simulation

Article Abstract:

The effect of rest intervals on knee-extension torque production is compared. A 120-second rest between repetitions is recommended when using neuromuscular electrical simulations (NMES) in early rehabilitation because force decline across repetitions with 30-second rest during NMES is greater than maximum voluntary isometric contraction (MVIC).

Subcutaneous tissue thickness alters the effect of NMES

Article Abstract:

The study evaluates the effects of subcutaneous tissue thickness groups on neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) amplitude and force production of the quadriceps. Results indicate the need for higher NMES amplitudes for the thickest skinfold category as compared to the thinnest category.

Time course of habituation after repeated ice-bath immersion of the ankle

Article Abstract:

Pain habituation to ice-bath immersion over five consecutive days are examined by analyzing 28 healthy individuals. It was observed that discomfort was greater during the first 5 minutes while perception of discomfort at initial immersion was consistent across five days.
