American match-racing stalwart Ed Baird describes his experience in the best-of-three quarterfinal match between him and rival Gilmour at the Swedish Match Cup in Marstrand, on Sweden's west coast. The match decides the Swedish Match Tour Season championship, and the winner earns a $60,000 bonus plus a new BMW 545i valued at $85,000.

The cruiser's chute

Article Abstract:

The way in which a sailor learnt how to properly set up, trim a cruising asymmetric, the point at which the sail is tacked, and gybe an asymmetric cursing spinnaker, is described. The trimming of a snuffer gybe and an outside gybe is discussed.
