The physiological and health effects of oral creatine supplementation

Article Abstract:

Health and physiological effects of oral creatine (Cr) supplementation are discussed in this consensus statement written for the American College of Sports Medicine. An apparent absence of health risks may or may not make Cr supplementation safe and appropriate. Some cautions are in order. Health risks may yet be demonstrated. Cr may be bought in a form that is neither pure nor safe in the US since the US FDA does not approve such preparations. The spirit of athletic competition may be undermined by use of such an ergogenic agent to achieve what is perceived as the competitive edge.

ACSM abstracts: a need for more data

Article Abstract:

This article evaluates the quality of experimental research abstracts submitted to the American College of Sports Medicine for their 2000 national meeting. Findings indicate that more than one-third of the abstracts failed to include any absolute data to support claims made in the studies.
