Cycle World magazine assembled nine brands of enduros to participate in a contest to determine the off-road bike of 1997. The brands were ATK 250LQ, Gas Gas 250 Endurocross, Husaberg FX501, Honda XR400R, Kawasaki KLX300, KTM 250E/XC, TM 300E, Suzuki RMX250 and Yamaha WR250. The winner was KTM 250E/XC.

Get back, Jackpiner; remembering the Penton 175
Article Abstract:
Penton 175, predecessor of the KTM 200 Jackpiner, was described. The 234-pound motorcycle was furnished with electronic ignition, foam air filter, state-of-the-art Ceriani suspension and the 175cc, six-speed KTM motor.
