VO(sub 2) is attenuated above the lactate threshold in endurance-trained runners

Article Abstract:

Study is conducted to determine whether a deviation from linearity occurs in the VO (sub 2)-speed relationship above the lactate threshold (LT) in running and if length of the submaximal exercise bouts alters this magnitude. The results illustrate a significant decrease (51.4%) in slope of the VO (sub 2)-speed relationship above LT and the use of linear regression of VO (sub 2)-speed data below LT may potentially overestimate the prediction of VO (sub 2) values above LT.

Reproducibility of endurance performance on a treadmill using a preloaded time trial

Article Abstract:

A highly reproducible test is established to measure endurance performance in runners. The results suggest that performances measured as time to complete a 10-km time trial on a treadmill after 90-min preload is extremely reliable and may be useful for future research assessing the effect of diet, ergogenic substances, or training methods on endurance running performances.

Comparison of Bod Pod and DXA in female collegiate athletes

Article Abstract:

The reliability and validity of air displacement plethysmography (ADP) is evaluated to compare it with the dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) hologic QDR 4500A (Waltham, MA) in female collegiate athletes. Results indicate that ADP is a valid measure of body composition in female athletes and nonathletes when compared with DXA.
