INTERNET TVS REAPPEAR

Article Abstract:

Ch. 1 and EspriTV were leading the introduction of high-definition television (HDTV) models with Internet access at the Consumer Electronics Show, 2001. Ch. 1 has taken a subsidized approach in introducing 27-inch HD-ready monitor equipped with 56 kbps modem together with NadaPC's ISP service. EspriTV on the other hand has introduced full-priced 27-inch and 16-inch TVs with Internet browser.

ALTERNATIVE DTV COPY PROTECTION METHODS PROPOSED

Article Abstract:

Digital Transmission Content Protection, a standard for digital television, is being challenged by Digital Visual Interface and High-Bandwidth Digital Copy Protection. The alternative has the support of Universal Studios, Microsoft and Intel. Digital Video Interface is deemed preferable for uncompressed HD video to high-resolution display, as well as for point-to-point connection to screen.

DVD RECORDING CAMPS RATTLE SABERS AT CEBIT SHOW

Last week, at the CeBit show in Hannover, Germany, companies faced off with different formats for DVD recording. Philips, a major supporter of DVD+RW planned ahead despite competition from Pioneer and DVD-RAM and DVD-RW formats. Retailers are demanding a single format or at least cross-compatibility, but companies seem firm in their stances.
