Article Abstract:

The production of the Norwegian Cruise LineEs (NCL) Cruise liner Pride of America shall be completed at GermanyEs Lloyd Werft, after the vessel sunk during a stormy night at he fitting out quay in January this year. The yard ran into financial problems after the accident and finally the insurance companies will settle the damages and salvages cost. The vessel is expected to ready for delivery by June 2005, and after commissioning will join the new NCL Hawaian Cruise service.

DNV issues first passenger ship security certificate to Star Cruises' SuperStar Aries

Star Cruises', Bahamian flagged 37,301gt cruise ship 'SuperStar Aries' was issued the International Ship Security Certificate (ISSC) code. Chong Chee Tut, Star Cruises chief operating officer stated that, with the first ever issuance of this certificate to Star Cruises, the company had complied with procedures and ship security policy where passengers' peace of mind and security was top priority.

Queen joins Dutch quintet

Article Abstract:

Queen Victoria, set for delivery in March 2005, is a sister ship to Carnival's Holland America Line's (HAL) Zuiderdam (The Motor Ship January 2003) and Oosterdam. Queen Victoria differs from the HAL ships as it will be all-diesel rather than the combined diesel and gas turbine (CODAG) propulsion plant, which allow the Hal ships to operate smoke-free.
