Boom and bust?

Article Abstract:

The French shipping industry is showing signs of recovery in 1998 after encountering difficulties in 1995. However, the nation's shipowners are expressing increasing concerns regarding the lack of available trained French officers and the scheduled abolition of duty-free goods between SeaFrance and Brittany Ferries. Shipbuilders are experiencing mixed fortunes as ACH Construction Navale appears to be on the verge of closing while other firms are reporting firm profits and large orders for the 1997/1998 season.
