Multicultural home buyers create new business opportunities

Article Abstract:

America's huge immigrant population represents a lucrative market for the real estate industry. Statistics from the US Census Bureau show that this population grows at a rate of one million households annually and almost half of these immigrants are within the age range (25-44) when they are most likely to buy a home. This market is also attractive because studies indicate that immigrants place greater importance on home ownership than US-born renters and are therefore more willing to make sacrifices to be able to buy a house. Unfortunately, real estate companies are not serving this market well because of a lack of awareness of this market, a lack of knowledge of how to deal with the immigrant population and a lack of proper outreach training. Ways of overcoming these problems are discussed.
