Conditioned thinking

Article Abstract:

The adoption of conditioned-based machine monitoring method has been drawing increased attention in the shipping industry due to the numerous benefits it offers to ship owners. This type of monitoring procedure is basically carried out by conducting baseline readings consistently and making the necessary repairs whenever a fault is identified. The two most commonly used conditioned-based monitoring methods include ferrography and thermography.

Cammell Laird secures defence refit

Wright & Beyer Ltd, part of the Cammell Laird ship repair group, has secured a contract to refit the ocean research vessel RMAS Newton for the Ministry of Defence. The prime contract is worth 5 million pounds sterling.
