Cruise ships go for vacuum toilet systems: the less glamorous side of the cruise industry revealed

Article Abstract:

The black water disposal process, and advantages and drawbacks of different modern vacuum toilet systems aboard cruise ships are examined. Among the three marine vacuum waste structures discussed, the benefits and running costs of the simple vacuum pump technique are much lower compared to the ejector and vacuumarator systems.

The first of a new generation of powerful shipboard cranes form part of a contract between Japanese shipbuilder Oshima Shipbuilding and Finnish crane maker Konecranes VLC, an arm of KCI Konecranes Group. The order for eight shipyard gantry cranes is worth around US$28.2 million.
