Article Abstract:
Manufacturer Zellweger's variety of gas detectors and water analysis instruments are of particular interest to shipowners. Zellweger's Sieger SensePoint, which can be immersed in salt water, and Sieger SignalPoint provide fixed point detection of toxic and combustible gases. Detection for combustible gases by the Sieger SensePoint is done to EN50054 and uses Zellweger's proven catalytic bead sensing technology which has a 0%-100% LEL. Furthermore, this instrument has a five-year life and displays good resistance to contamination by silicons, grease and oil.

Monitor measures mist
Article Abstract:
Monitoring equipment makers point out the importance of early monitoring of oil mist, which can become explosive when it exceeds concentrations of 50 mg/liter. Research shows that 65% of machine room fires are due to oil mist bursts in marine engine crankcases. These explosions are sometimes be caused by undetected oil mist resulting from overheating of a big end or piston. Among the companies that produce mist detectors are Quality Monitoring Instruments, Kidde Fire Protection, and Scholar Automation.
