Exxon's oil spill damages halved
Article Abstract:
The reduction of punitive damages to be paid by Exxon Mobil in association with the supertanker Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska, as announced by San Francisco Federal appeals court, is discussed. The oil disaster had killed and endangered numerous marine animals.

UK offshore - could do better

The British offshore oil and gas industry still needs to improve safety procedures, according to the Health and Safety Executive. The industry needs to do more to achieve its goal of becoming the safest offshore sector by 2010.
