Article Abstract:

Singapore's ship repair industry suffers from a lack of available local manpower. The country is regarded as one of the world's top ship repair centers but it has to import manpower skills from neighboring countries such as Pakistan, Indonesia and Vietnam. The industry does not appeal to local residents because it is regarded as relatively unsafe and dirty. It needs to improve its image and implement remedial measures such as automation although this approach has proven to have limited value.

Austal ferry heads for Greece

Article Abstract:

The planning of Greek ferry passengers to travel on an Austal built ferry this summer is discussed. It will be followed by the introduction of 'Highspeed 5' for Hellenic Seaways handed over by the West Australian shipyard. The features of this new vessel are presented.
