How well do parents manage young driver crash risks?

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to investigate how parents provide young drivers with driving experience without unduly increasing their risk exposure. Recent reports suggested that simple motivational strategies can persuade parents to adopt driving agreements and impose greater restrictions on early teen driving.

The Symposium on Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) brought together an impressive array of researchers with extensive experience in GDL. GDL is effective in helping beginner teenage drivers gain driving knowledge and experience while reducing the risks of crashes and injuries.

Young driver risk in relation to parents' retrospective driving record

Article Abstract:

A study on the role of parents in shaping their children's attitudes towards safe driving is presented. Young drivers who possessed valid licenses and were aged between 16 to 21 years participated in the study.
