Afai Ships Ltd stands to prosper considerably because of its position as the only shipbuilding yard in China constructing high-speed ferries. It has already completed Aquan One, which is a fast, bullet train-like, passenger catamaran featuring a curved superstructure and window panels. Afai has capitalized on its long-standing association with Australia-based Incat to construct a series of K50 80m fast catamaran ferries for passengers and vehicles.

Double-acting icebreaking duo

Article Abstract:

Helsinki New Shipyard has completed a pair of icebreaking vessels, Arcticaborg and Antarcticaborg, that were designed with towing and firefighting capabilities. The vessels, which are designed to operate in the northern Caspian Sea, were ordered by Wagenborg Kazakhstan BV. The innovative features of the vessels were based on extensive research and tests conducted in the ice model basin at Kvaerner Masa-Yards' Arctic Technology Center.
