Life after Decca

Article Abstract:

The UK's General Lighthouse Authorities (GLA) are batting for a changeover from the Decca Navigator system to Loran C. Loran-C can provide larger geographical coverage and would cost around $4 million less per year to operate. A Loran-C/Global Positioning System is expected to be operational by 1999. GLAs intend to provide operators ample time to install the necessary equipment on their vessels.
