Niche markets sustain steam turbines

Steam turbines have generally become obsolete with the entry of more economical marine diesel engines. The only ships that still use steam turbines are the large liquefied natural gas carriers. However, ship designers are reconsidering steam turbines for use in several waste heat recovery applications. Marine engine manufacturers are developing new steam turbine designs to meet these new applications.

The Skydex decking panel products have successfully undergone laboratory tests and claims that its boat decking materials reduce peak G forces by over 90% compared to current military decking materials.
