Significant cost benefits

Article Abstract:

Reconditioned piston crowns may perform better and cost 60%-70% lower than new ones. The reconditioning process involves thorough cleaning and inspecting of crowns. They are pre-machined back to sound metal and stress relieved at high temperature. After slow cooling, crowns are machined back to their original specification. To protect the piston crowns from burning and corrosion, the crown profile is covered with Inconel or Nimonic layers.

Ring of confidence

Article Abstract:

Piston rings are critical not only to the efficient performance and service life of internal combustion engines and their components. Failure of the piston ring will result in reduced power, increased emissions and higher consumption of fuel and lube oil. Manufacturers are now coming out with piston rings made out of tougher materials and new surface treatments to ensure that they provide the right kind of performance.

Ringing in the changes

Article Abstract:

The piston rings in large bore two-stroke engines is manufactured in K0 or KN shape for decreasing the great wear during the running-in process. The piston ring is manufactured with optimum correction-OPCORE for desired pressure distribution at normal operating conditions.
