Tightening safety

Article Abstract:

Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has urged the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to review the guidelines of serving and maintenance of life saving and fire safety equipment on board. AMSA's latest report shows that the faulty life saving and fire safety equipments were the main reasons for detention of ships in the Australian port and insists on routine maintenance and periodic inspections of equipment under the supervision of the ship's senior officer.
