A brand by any other name

Article Abstract:

Cara Operations Ltd is revitalizing and extending its Swiss Chalet chicken-restaurant brand and fast-food brand Harvey's to maintain its leadership position for years to come. The Vision 2000 plan included the physical, operational and attitudinal makeovers of Harvey's and Swiss Chalet locations to attract new customers without alienating regular customers. The plan, initiated in 1997, also included the launch of a new concept called Toast! Cafe and Grill for the younger crowds as well as a `brand within a brand' called Roost.

The trouble with yellow

Article Abstract:

Toronto's new Food Premise Regulation has caused much anxiety among restaurateurs in the city. The Regulation resulted from a series of stories in the Toronto Star which reported on the poor condition of the city's restaurant inspection procedures. The new Regulation will require all eating and drinking places to present food-safety inspection notices in a conspicuous place. The Regulation will have a three-color rating system, green for pass, yellow for a conditional pass while red means closed.
