Bags of fun

Article Abstract:

There are 30 companies competing in the UK inflatable market which has sales of about 10 million pounds sterling-per-year. Inflatables can be hired for between 35 pounds sterling-per-day for a small Bouncy Castle to 100 pounds sterling-a-day for a large one so it is probably better to purchase one. Safety is an important issue particularly as some 4,000 children-per-year are injured when when using inflatables in the UK . A Code of Practice is being prepared by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and it is hoped that this will be taken up by the British Standards Institute.

Play safe

Article Abstract:

The Institute of Leisure and Amenity Management, the National Playing Fields Association and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents have recently published new safety guidelines for children's indoor play facilities. These guidelines are likely to prove very useful until a European or British safety standard for these facilities is introduced. Issues covered include the supervision, monitoring and training of staff, design, layout and product installation.
