Cuba

Article Abstract:

Tourist arrivals to Cuba have more than double during the past five years, with gross revenue more than tripled, and progress has been made in infrastructure. Business travel is a small proportion of the market, although it is growing, and cruise tourism is still in its infancy. Urban public transport was an area badly affected by the recession, meaning that visitors now have to rely on tourism specific transport. The country wants to retain its foothold in conventional beach tourism, as well as diversifying into other directions.

Pakistan

Article Abstract:

Tourism in Pakistan has been slow to grow although there have been some advanced in specialist types of tourism, such as adventure travel and religious tourism. Tourism income still only represents a small share of gross national product and tourism expenditure has stagnated. Domestic travel solely for recreation is becoming more widespread and this trend has been helped by expanded tourism facilities. 43% of tourists visit Pakistan for family reasons, with 26% for business reasons and 20% for recreation.

Iran

Article Abstract:

Political events in Iran over the last 20 years have played a large part in deterring international travelers from visiting the country, although its wealth of historic attractions and cultural heritage could be huge tourist attractions. Significant growth in leisure tourism is unlikely in the short-term, mainly because of inadequate tourist facilities and services, a failing infrastructure, and a strict Islamic regime.
