David Pickup

Article Abstract:

David Pickup director general of the UK Sports Council (UKSC) has criticised the decision of the Department of National Heritage (DNH) to review the structure of the Sports Council. Pickup has refuted the DNH's fears that the UKSC could become an unwieldy organisation because the launch of the National Lottery would mean coping with a budget of between 200 million pounds sterling and 250 million pounds sterling. The DNH has also claimed that the UKSC's workforce of between 150 to 200 employees is too high, but Pickup says this is the minimum number needed to handle the requirements of the government.
