Family affair

Article Abstract:

Waterparks are a family attraction throughout the world, particularly in Latin America where the climate allows the waterparks to stay open 12-months-a-year. The Association of Latin American Waterparks (ALAPA) was formed to represent the region at the World Waterpark Association (WWA) and offer help to new developers. South-East Asia is also seeing an increase in waterparks, where lack of space leads to the parks being built vertically. Information of the development of waterparks in Europe, the US, Japan and Latin America is included.

End of the affair

Article Abstract:

Figures from Dodona Research show that some 84 multiplex cinemas were opened in the UK between 1995 and 1999, with a further 45 complexes due by 2001. However, the industry is anxious about Britain's ageing population which reduced cinema admissions by 3% between 1991 and 1997. Another cause for concern is the popularity or otherwise of films, with indifferent British films often being substituted with similar US films. While the boom may be over, the cinema industry remains profitable and opportunities will continue to arise.

Many leisure sites see redemption operations as having a wide appeal, although not all redemption operations are designed totally around ticket payout games. Other established amusement machines are incorporated, such as fruit machines, cranes and dedicated videos.
