Article Abstract:

The Birmingham National Sea Life Centre is the largest city centre site in Britain and values 5.5 million pounds sterling. Its manager, Graeme Smith, intends to develop the attraction into the largest in the West Midlands' region. He believes that the hospitality industry can benefit from the centre while hosting conferences and other operations. Smith employs entertainment staff to ensure that interesting facts and experiences are provided to the centre's customers. Adults and children pay 5.95 and 3.95 pounds sterling for entry.

Rush of excitement: following success in Belfast and Dublin, The Sheridan Group is making a push into England with its entertainment brands

Article Abstract:

The Sheridan Group's flagship project is Dublin's Parnell Centre where it will open its IMAX theatre. The centre will include a SimEX Virtual Voyages simulation attraction, fast food outlet, a restaurant and Century City entertainment centre. The company will invest 500,000 on the launch and expects to attract 600,000 visitors during the first year. It is planning further IMAX theatres in the UK and is looking at sites in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool and Newcastle.

Showscan Entertainment, which has been making and exhibiting film-based entertainment for twelve years up to 1996, has developed ShowMax, simulation attractions, which come in 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional applications, with projectors, screens, show control and sound systems, and peripherals. Other suppliers include Iwerks Entertainment, Electrosonic (Dartford, UK), and Imax Corporation, the inventor of the large format, big screen cinema.
