Home office makes gambling easier

Article Abstract:

The U.K. government is drawing up a consultation document aimed at relaxing the rules governing the gambling industry. A response to the document is expected from the gaming industry by the end of May 1996. The launch of the National Lottery in November 1994 has prompted the gaming industry to call for reforms that will allow them to compete on an equal basis. However, the National Council of Gambling has opposed the document because it says that any relaxation of the gaming laws will encourage people to gamble.
