Article Abstract:

A recent Sport England conference held in London examined the state of women's sports. Among the subjects under discussion were suggestions for breaking down barriers for women's sport and increasing its profile. Research shows that men take part in sport more often than women, with 40% of girls dropping out of sport by the age of 14. Speaking at the conference, Minister for Women, Baroness Jay, called for schools to motivate girls by giving them the chance to play football and rugby instead of being made to take part in more traditional girls games.

Desert kingdom

Article Abstract:

The archeological heritage and stunning desert landscapes of Jordan make it an ideal location for holiday makers. The country's tourist industry is being fully supported by government and business in an attempt to create a upmarket holiday destination where mass visits to archeological sites are discouraged. Independent travel is also being encouraged and a wide range of new upmarket hotels are being built to accommodate the expected growth in tourism.

Total immersion

Article Abstract:

Although simulator rides are becoming increasingly authentic, with new additions including three dimensional sound, pneumatic technlogy, and wind, they are still pricey. A 50 seat auditorium is estimated to cost $1. 2 million, and film rental can cost around $100,000 per year. According to Colin Dawson, managing director of Thorpe Park, simulators cannot provide as much excitement as white knuckle rides.
