Article Abstract:

Development of the Metreon complex in San Francisco, California, forms a major part of the work of Sony Development Senior Vice President of Development and Operations John K. MacLeod. The Metreon urban entertainment centre will open in mid-1999. The focus of the complex will be a large format movie theater, but there will also be 15 standard movie theaters, interactive attractions unique to Sony, and food and retail operations. Sony is also developing a similar urban entertainment complex in Tokyo, Japan, and other retail and entertainment venues.

Disney's animal kingdom

Article Abstract:

Jo Rohde has worked as creative leader of Disney's Animal Kingdom for the past eight years. The attraction is set in more than 500 acres divided into several themes, with animals brought from zoos and conservation collections throughout the world. The centrepiece of the Safari Village is the Tree of Life which is covered in animal images. The landscape was created by planting seedlings four years before opening, to achieve a mature-looking landscape
