Licensed to thrill

Article Abstract:

Licensed children's character rides offer operators a good rate of return and a long shelf life. Popular characters such as those from Sesame Street and Thomas the Tank Engine can be used to create an educational ride and build on character recognition. Manufacturers often need to provide multi-lingual facilities on rides for well known characters as they are distributed to many countries. Coin slots blocked by paper or sticks account for 90% of service calls, and modern equipment is designed to prevent this. Boats, cars and helicopters remain popular rides.
