Article Abstract:

The emergence of izakaya restaurants is discussed. Izakayas are Japanese drinking establishments which also serve food. In Vancouver, Canada, izakayas are becoming extremely popular because of a large Asian population. These restaurants usually serve hot and cold plates, soups, and salads. Beverages such as chilled sake, martinis, and beer are also served.
