Modern life

Article Abstract:

The UK sport and recreation industry embarked on a training programme within the Modern Apprenticeship scheme in 1995 and now has 400 apprentices registered on the programme. Local Training Enterprise Councils fund and administer training programmes which are in line with both the industry's national framework and the individual requirements of employers and apprentices. Employers select appropriate apprentices, whose training they will support for two to three years, and reap the benefits of structured, funded staff training.

This is the modern world

Article Abstract:

Touchscreen technology is now widely used in many areas of life, and is therefore no longer enough in itself to attract visitors to a leisure facility. It is important that leisure operators selected touchscreen systems which offer high levels of design and interaction. Careful interpretation can play an important role in making information more interesting, and this is seen with touchscreen installations at attractions including the Natural History Museum, the British Museum and the Museum of Scotland.
