Nepal

Article Abstract:

Some 365,000 foreign visitors arrived in Nepal during 1995, of these 33% came from India, whilst Japanese tourists are becoming an increasingly important market. The most popular months for visitors are October and November with around 88% of visitors using transportation by air to reach Nepal. Visitors to Nepal stay for an average of 10.8 days. Around 15.5% of tourists visit Nepal to take part in mountaineering or trekking pursuits. To improve tourism in Nepal the authorities have created a Nepal Tourism Board which will coordinate all types of activities within the tourist industry.

Egypt

Article Abstract:

Tourism in Egypt experienced a strong year in 1995, with foreign arrivals reaching 3.1 million, up over 21% from previously. International receipts rose by 29% to $1.8 billion. The healthy growth has been attributed to government support for the industry, with incentives including promotional activities and funding. It is expected that revenue from tourism will continue to be a major source of income, but a downgrading of the market is possible unless environmental problems are solved.
