Orlando: how high is up?

Article Abstract:

Orlando, FL, was destined to be a great holiday destination before Walt Disney's decision to locate his theme park in the city. The area's clement climate and its efficient highway and infrastructure links have ensured that it has continued to grow rapidly for almost 30 years, with the tourism economy increasing by between 5% and 10% since the early 1970s. However, theme park growth may not be able to fuel the same rate in the future and growth in length of stay is set to slow, although repeat visits should increase.

Ends of the tunnel

Article Abstract:

Kent, England, and Nord Pas de Calais, France, are two regions which are set to benefit from their positions at each end of the Channel Tunnel. In both cases, leisure, tourist and business developments have already taken place and more are planned. In Kent, a number of hotels have opened, and the tourism market is likely to be extensively affected by recent infrastructure changes. In Nord Pas de Calais, many new tourism development opportunities are starting to emerge.

Mix match

Article Abstract:

Urban entertainment centres are growing in popularity as the new technological age is transforming cities into places where people play, buy and sell. Leisure technology allows entertainment to take up less space, and retailers are offering entertainment as well as products to give them a competitive edge. There is not such a necessity to recreate high streets in Europe, because the high streets have not disappeared as they have in the US.
