The legend beats young blood

Article Abstract:

The decision by the UK Sports Council to build a national sports stadium at Wembley is no surprise to most observers, but supporters of rival Manchester see the choice as a further example of favouritism. Although it is hoped that the new facility will be ready by 2000, it is likely that the process will be delayed by the Sports Council's decision to run a design competition, with work not expected to start until 1998. Meanwhile, Manchester will take advantage of rebuilding work at Wembley Stadium by hosting several major sports events, including the Football Association Cup Final.

Article Abstract:

Dedicated MasterCards are now being operated by the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum in an effort to raise new funds. The cards operate as a badge of association for the museums' supporters, and are among many affinity cards now being introduced in the UK. The museum concerned receives a payment when the account is opened, along with a further 7.50 pounds sterling if it is kept open for 20 months.
