The kids are alright?

Article Abstract:

Thousands of students are enrolling in public and private culinary and hospitality schools throughout Canada in order to learn the industry. This trend is taking place as Canada's economy is improving and as its hospitality industry enters into an an aggressive stance in terms of growth. These students are attracted by the increasing popularity and profile of chef or restaurateur positions. However, culinary schools are confronted with such challenges as falling budgets and the changing realities of the foodservice industry.

Article Abstract:

Canada's top five coffee chains have been offering other products in addition to coffee and doughnuts to satisfy customers' needs. While these chains used different approaches to meet market demands, they seem to have found one common strategy to increase sales, which is to expand their lunch programs. These five chains, namely TDL Group Ltd's Tim Nortons, Second Cup Ltd, Coffee Time Donut Inc, Starbucks Coffee Co and Country Style Food Services Inc, had combined sales of C$2.33 billion in 1999.

State-of-the-art sports venues are offering a multitude of foodservice options to meet the needs of fans expecting to experience beyond watching a game. GM Place in Vancouver, Canada, Corel Centre in Ottawa, Canada, and Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada, are offering suite rental packages aimed at the corporate market. Full-service restaurants, themed brew pubs and sports bars offer pre-meal for sports fans arriving early.
