The terror is what's universal

Universal Studios in Orlando is part movie lot and part theme park and it is continually upgrading and adding to its attractions. It is planning to launch Twister, based on the disaster movie, in 1998, and the Adventure of a Lifetime in 1999. Current attractions include Terminator 2 3D live action show featuring body doubles and the Back To the Future flight simulation ride. There is also the Earthquake ride and the ET Adventure.

Universal ups stakes against Disney

Article Abstract:

Universal Studios has increased pressure within the theme park market by opening a new theme park during early 1999 in Orlando, Florida called Islands of Adventure. The new park will rival Disney's leisure complexes by incorporating attractions which draw on inspiration from movies. Universal also plan to build an equivalent park at Port Aventura in Spain, catering to the holiday needs of visitors throughout Europe.

Inside Universal Studios Islands of Adventure

Universal Studios Islands of Adventure comprises five themed islands linked to each other by an inland sea. The islands are unified by a sixth themed zone: the park's Port of Entry, which is a bustling area of shops, food and beverage outlets through which guests must pass on entering and leaving the attraction. Attention to every aspect of the guest experience is the key to Islands of Adventure's success.
