Ticketless travel grows in Europe

Article Abstract:

Several US carriers now run electronic ticketing schemes, thus allowing them to reduce distribution costs. Similar schemes are now being planned from Europe by United Airlines and British Airways. The former, which has been working with Lufthansa for some time already, plans to launch a scheme from London, England, in spring 1997. British Airways claims to be focusing on ticketless travel in the domestic market.
