Toward a destination visitor attendance estimation model: Whistler, British Columbia, Canada

Article Abstract:

A modeling procedure for credibly estimating tourist attendance in nongated and multiple entry point destinations is described, along with its application demonstrated in the mountain tourism destination of Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. While the model is capable of providing timely and relevant attendance estimates, its credibility is dependent on access to reliable base of audited attendance data regarding staying visitors and behavioral information collected systematically from 'floating' visitors.
