Tricon Global Restaurants (Canada) Ltd

Tricon Global Restaurants (Canada) Ltd., based in Rexdale, Ontario, succeeds along with its brands, KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell, three of the most popular food service brands in the market. The company spend 1997 with much concentration on new products, price promotions and marketing campaigns, leading it to report 1997 sales of $1,130 million, a 1-percent increase from 1996 sales of $1,120 million. As for 1998, Tricon intends to maintain a significant amount of new product activity as well as expansion into non-traditional channels.

Scott's and Tricon merge Canadian operations

Scott's Restaurants Inc of Toronto, Canada, and Tricon Global Restaurants Inc of Louisville, KY, have announced a deal to combine their Canadian operations. The deal will create a new company that will own and operate all the Pizza Hit, KFC and Taco Bell units currently operated by Scott's and Tricon. The merged entity will have 639 corporate stores in 400 communities, generating more than $570 million in revenues.

Eat at Joe's buys Koo Koo Roo

Article Abstract:

Koo Koo Roo Canada Inc, a chain of chicken restaurants, has recently been acquired by Eat at Joe's Inc of Scarsdale, NY. The deal resulted to the relocation of Eat at Joe's corporate and operations offices from Cherry Hill, NJ, to Toronto, Canada. The acquisition also brought changes to Koo Koo Roo, including the shift from self-serve dining to table service as well as expansion into suburban areas.
