Tricon/Scott's merger official

Article Abstract:

Tricon Global Restaurants Inc's union with Scott's Restaurants of Toronto, Ontario, has resulted in the formation of priszm brandz LP. The merger, which took over six months to finalize, will result in an entity that runs over 640 Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and KFC outlets located in 400 communities all over Canada. The launching of the new company's name and logo took place on Jul 24, 2000, in Toronto, a day-long event that also brought all of the company's Canadian managers together for the first time.

A number of Canadian fine-dining operations are expanding their offerings to include catering services. The improving economy, which has allowed individuals to become more lavish with their entertaining expenditures, has created an increasing demand for upscale catering. While the niche is not yet booming, some operators have already opened full-blown catering units while others remain content on handling occassional catering requests.
