Why risk death on the Nile?

Article Abstract:

There has always been a troubled relationship between the medical profession and the travel industry. Tour operators want to sell holidays to travellers wishing for a risks-free break, but doctors want the industry to make their customers more aware of the health risks attached to foreign travel. The International Society of Travel Medicine has announced a policy statement on travel-health advice which it hopes that the travel industry will adopt. The statement underlines the importance of immunisation and requires agents to advise travellers of international immunisation regulations.

Ready or not, the euro is virtually with you

Article Abstract:

It is anticipated the introduction of a single European currency will particularly effect travel industry outlets near national borders where customers will be able to more easily compare prices. Some industry observers fear prices will rise when they are converted to the euro. Travel firms point out the cost of putting two sets of prices in their brochures will increase publication costs by 40%. Using the euro for cash payments will be introduced in Jan. 1, 2002 whereas credit card payments, in euros, will commence in Jan. 1. 1999.
