Winery sues LCBO

Article Abstract:

Magnotta Winery Corp has filed an C$8-million lawsuit against the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) for allegedly bad-mouthing the Vaughan, Ontario, Canada-based winery's products. Gabe Magnotta, operator of the public winery, alleged that LCBO clerks tell potential customers that magnotta's icewine is shabby and not the real thing. Magnotta believed that the company's practice of directly selling wines through its five stores in Southern Ontario and bypassing LCBO's markups is the reason for the agency's hostility toward the winery.
