March madness

Article Abstract:

March madness, a term for wakening up to spring, also holds true for fly-fishers wanting to take advantage of Alaska's Naknek Lake's fishing. While many fly-fishers are going after the prized catch of a rainbow trout, fishing in Alaska also offers lakers, arctic char, northern pike and trout.

Fly fishing on ice

Article Abstract:

A fisher can make good use of winter time in Alaska, when lakes and streams are frozen and no fly fishing is possible. Winter is the time to evaluate the season past, to experiment with fishing supplies and to plan more effective strategies for the spring.

There is nothing like fly fishing for the dedicated fisherman. Rainbow trout offer the greatest challenge because of the many factors that motivate their behavior in streams and lakes. One fisherman's masterful technique is described.
