Article Abstract:

The 1997 inter-governmental conference in the Netherlands produced a draft EU treaty intended to add an employment chapter and non-discrimination clause into the Treaty of Rome. Moreover, the social policy chapter will also be brought into the Treaty's main body and will be accepted by the UK. The employment chapter will address international economic growth and competition while promoting employee protections.

Late February is a good time to travel to Massachusetts and see the sugar maples being tapped. About 100 sugarhouses are open to the public, and some offer sample food cooked with maple syrup. The processing and extraction of the maple syrup is outlined.
