Good news/bad news: the Supreme Court's recent rulings on sexual harassment
Article Abstract:
The Supreme Court issued two opinions in summer 19998 which make clearer the parameters for employer liability for sexual harassment by supervisory personnel. These two rulings are significant because they addressed cases where workers subjected to sexual harassment by supervisory personnel opted to resign and sue the firm rather than complain to higher management. Both cases indicate that employers must introduce and effectively enforce policies prohibiting sexual harassment.
